Hanging the Cloud Leopard

The anticipation is building at CC, as we prepare to open the doors for our next exhibition The Cloud Leopard Returns (2-23 May) to celebrate London design events this May.

Coinciding with Crafts Council’s Collect, Craft Central’s Made in Clerkenwell and Clerkenwell Design Week, Solo Kojima’s incredible Cloud Leopard paper-cut sculpture returns to Clerkenwell. The Cloud Leopard has been on quite a journey since it was unveiled at the Saatchi one year ago. Having travelled from Como to Paris as part of Arte&Arte’s touring exhibition, Miniartextil, it now makes a pit-stop in London before heading to Venice next month. This is a rare opportunity to see a groundbreaking example of contemporary Japanese paper-cut art by an award-winning artist. Spectacularly intricate, the Cloud Leopard is cut by hand from one sheet of paper and took Nahoko Kojima five months to complete.

Here's a sneaky peek of Nahoko and Shari installing the incredible paper-cut sculpture in our new Gallery on Monday. It took approximately 6 hours of intricate work to hang the piece, but we think you'll agree that it's well worth it! Come and see for yourself 2-23 May. Find out more and plan your visit here.

Solo Kojima work here at Craft Central – visit them in their studio during Made in Clerkenwell (16-19 May).
