We're excited about Solo Kojima! Jerwood Makers Open success and the Cloud Leopard returns to London...

The incredible Cloud Leopard by Craft Central designers Solo Kojima has been on quite a journey since it wowed the Collect crowds at the Saatchi gallery last May! As part of a European touring exhibition in partnership with Arte&Arte’s Miniartextil, it is currently hanging in Le Beffroi, Paris (a sneaky peek below!).

We are delighted to announce that the stunning paper cut piece will return to it's Clerkenwell home in May 2013. Set to hang in the Craft Central Gallery, it will coincide with a busy time in the London design calendar spanning Crafts Council's Collect, Made in Clerkenwell: Open Studios at Craft Central and Clerkenwell Design Week.

As if this wasn't enough Solo Kojima excitement for us at CC!... Nahoko Kojima has recently won the prestigious Contemporary Art Award, the Jerwood Makers Open 2013. For this she will unveil a new piece depicting a life size swimming Polar Bear, hand cut using only one sheet of white Japanese Washi Paper and suspended as a free hanging sculpture. Find out more here

Meet Shari and Nahoko in their Craft Central studio at Made in Clerkenwell this May.

Sneaky peek of the new gallery...

With 2 weeks until the big launch, here's a sneaky peek of our brand new gallery. Doors open on 18 Feb for the inaugural exhibition, Head to Toe - a showcase of contemporary millinery and shoe design.

Hats and shoes have started arriving, from the likes of House of Flora, Noel StewartMarloes ten Bhömer and Hetty Rose - I can't wait to get in there and start filling those lovely white walls with some really exciting millinery and shoe design!
